As I hit the one year anniversary of Binil's death, I've been thinking for hours of what to blog, &lt;a href="http://twitter.com/kekil"&gt;tweet&lt;/a&gt;, or talk about with friends.  But I am at a loss for words.  I guess that's how I'm handling it this week.  Last year at this time, I wanted to talk my mouth off.  This year, I find myself remembering and reliving everything I thought and experienced when I first heard and for the days and weeks to follow.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I remember Binil today ... the impact he had in my life, before and after he left.  I'm glad I had so much one-on-one time with him eating lunch after lunch after lunch, sharing our passions, our jokes ... hanging out at Marina Towers, chasing The Dark Knight filming locations, and just doing stuff together.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As the night goes on, I realize that Binil himself would not want the nostalgia to focus on him.  He would want us to all remember Jesus.  So I have shifted my focus to Him.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So tonight, I also remember Jesus.  Thanks for taking the punishment for my sin, and giving me a new life ... " &lt;p&gt;He says it again later in the same chapter.  Then in John's version (Jn 18:11),  he's basically saying "how can I not drink the cup my Father has given me?" ... His human side prayed three times for this piece of suffering to be removed.  But clearly over time, he knew this suffering was for a reason, for God's greater purpose.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Do you have a situation or circumstance which you want God to remove or fix or change?  Sure you can pray for it to get easier, but ultimately just pray for God's will. I realized I love cartography.  The concept that we are all connected in a small world, coupled with the view of the world outside of my own just blows me away.  I am on an online version of maps almost every day, especially &lt;a href="http://www.google.com/gmm/index.html"&gt;on my phone&lt;/a&gt;.   I got some of my cartography genes from my father, who recently revealed how he, like myself, loves looking at maps of random places just for fun.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;He would love this:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Google took care of mapping out India .. and it's so amazing to browse a &lt;a href="http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&amp;hl=en&amp;amp;amp;amp;q=Tiruvalla,+India&amp;ie=UTF8&amp;amp;z=8&amp;ll=9.60075,77.442627&amp;amp;spn=2.826991,5.537109&amp;t=h&amp;amp;om=1"&gt;map of Kerala&lt;/a&gt; to finally get a gist of how all these city names relate to each other. What would you do in that situation?  I don't think it was a good idea.  I think sometimes we might get confused as to the situations in which we should stand by convictions (a minister who doesn't conduct a wedding ceremony for a gay couple avoids hypocrisy) compared to other situations where we should show Christ's love through our service to the "outsiders." &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;For example, would you give clothing or food to a cold and hungry drug addict or alcoholic?  This example can be stretched to other areas of sin as well, but when it comes down to it, Christians shouldn't be the ones handing out "punishment" (lack of love and service) to "sinners". Whether the email is informative or junk does not matter.  The issue is that there is often no reason to have everyone's email address exposed for everyone else to see.  This raises a few issues:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;What if I didn't want everyone else to know my email address, and I only gave it to you because you're my friend?  Now everyone else on the To: list needs to know my address.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Now any recipient of that email can just click "Reply to All" and send even more often useless email to fill your inbox.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;If one of the 29 other people on the email decides to forward the email, now even more people can see my email address.  Have you ever seen when  you get a forward, that you have to scroll through all the other people that the email came from? That relaxation comes with a disclaimer ... I have a baby coming soon.  Washing his clothes, assembling a crib and dresser and glider, installing a car seat, caring for a wife who has the equivalent of a bowling ball strapped in front of her (ouch), preparing for the physical and emotional trauma of labor, and making sure we have the money to survive through an unpaid maternity leave can be somewhat stressful too, but at least there's joy waiting at the other end.  So I'd take the anxiety of an unborn child over classes any day.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So I will sure be busy as this young one grows up. I started looking into an &lt;acronym title="Secure Digital"&gt;SD&lt;/acronym&gt; card so that I can save some pictures and video to it.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I soon remembered that my father-in-law and a friend both lost some great pics (including some from my wedding) because their cards were corrupted.  All that to lead into some reading into how you can &lt;a href="http://www.digicamhelp.com/how-memory-cards-become-corrupted/index.htm"&gt;avoid corrupting your memory card&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;For example, here are some of the main reasons memory cards become corrupted:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;blockquote&gt; &lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt; Taking one photo after another too rapidly. A camera can not complete writing one image before starting the next.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;li&gt;Using a memory card from one camera in a different camera. But I learned a lot about Ms. Miers and her church. The Indians have caught up from 15 games behind and are close on their tail.  Maybe we should have another players' strike like in '94 when the season was cut short while they were on top.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I remember '93 and '94 when when I would listen to the Sox almost nightly on WMAQ 670.  Joey Cora and Ozzie Guillen were ON the field, along with Carlton Fisk, Black Jack McDowell, Bobby Thigpen, Tim Raines, Robin Ventura and a 25 year old Frank Thomas (he's 37 now).  Those were the days that kicked off my attachment to the Sox. Mail, Gmail, and Hotmail impose limitations on the size of an attachment that you can send to someone.  And on the other end, receivers have limitations on what can be received, especially if you're not using an account like Gmail or Yahoo! that has at least 1GB of space.  Here's where &lt;a href="http://www.yousendit.com"&gt;YouSendIt.com&lt;/a&gt; gets in the picture.  Now instead of being upset about attachment size limitations or taking up unnecessary space in a recipient's inbox, you can send a large file like a Powerpoint presentation, a short video, a long song, and more.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;All you do is go to the webpage, upload your file to their server (instructions are straightforward), and a link will be generated.  The link will be sent automatically to your recipient, and the recipient can forward the link around if he/she wants others to have access to the file also.  So you don't want to do this with highly confidential data since anyone who has access to the link can download your file.  You can only send one file at a time, so it's not the best for sending multiple pictures.  This is generally the best for files between larger than 5 megabytes, up to 1 GB (that's 1000 MB)!  YouSendIt.com will generate a link for you. Here's an excerpt from the &lt;a href="http://www.fraudguides.com/phishing_scams.asp"&gt;phishing&lt;/a&gt; section:  &lt;blockquote&gt;Links within an email are deliberately disguised in another attempt to deceive the recipient. HTML emails may display a genuine URL but when clicked on the hyperlink will take the user to a different web site. For example: http://www.win-big-bucks.com? may actually take the user to the web site the scam artists wants you to go. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The consumer needs to be very careful with these hyperlinks. Even if the legitimate companies URL seems to be in the web address it may not go to that site. I can't imagine how much worse it was for the passengers and flight attendants on board who are watching the situation develop as they stare at the back of the headrest in front of them.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;If you missed it, you can &lt;a href="http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9430871/"&gt;watch the video here&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As one passenger put it, "I thought how it must have been like on Sept. 11 watching on television and seeing the planes come toward the building."&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I had just assumed that the captain would not show anything on the on-board screens.  Without seeing themselves on TV, a calm captain and crew would have made the situation a lot less stressful and emotional.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Yes, the pilots should be commended on their skill of landing that aircraft. One can somewhat easily view the information you send over the internet if it's not encrypted or secure (https).  This is where Google Secure Access comes in.  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Google has come out with &lt;a href="http://wifi.google.com/download.html"&gt;Google Secure Access&lt;/a&gt;.  It's a Google engineer's side project (as most Google products are, because developers are given 20% of their time for side projects).  After a free download, Google protects your network usage by sending all your traffic &lt;em&gt;through Google's servers&lt;/em&gt;.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;blockquote&gt;&lt;br /&gt; .. your internet traffic will be encrypted and sent through Google's servers to the Internet. The data that is received will then be encrypted and sent back through our servers to your computer. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;/blockquote&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It's still in beta.  Seems like a good idea.  Obviously there will be a lot of hoopla about privacy because Google's servers "see" your data. I've been visiting it every day to catch the best price within a few miles from home.  On an empty tank, my Pathfinder can cost me $60 easy.  And that's once a week, if we're lucky.  $240/month for gas!  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This site takes visitor reports of gas prices in the area, and deletes it after 24 hours.  Here are some standard tips for saving gas:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;blockquote&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;ul&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Avoid High Speeds&lt;/strong&gt; As your speed increases, your aerodynamic drag increases in an exponential fashion. Driving 62 mph (100 km/h) vs 75 mph (120 km/h) will reduce fuel consumption by about 15%.&lt;/li&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Do Not Accelerate or Brake Hard &lt;/strong&gt;By anticipating the traffic and applying slow steady acceleration and braking, fuel economy may increase by as much as 20%.&lt;/li&gt; &lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Keep Tires Properly Inflated&lt;/strong&gt; Keep tire air pressure at the level recommended by your vehicle manufacturer. A single tire under inflated by 2 PSI, increases fuel consumption by 1%.&lt;/li&gt; &lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Use A/C Sparingly&lt;/strong&gt; When the air conditioner is on it puts extra load on the engine forcing more fuel to be used (by about 20%). The defrost position on most vehicles also uses the air conditioner.&lt;/li&gt; &lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Keep Windows Closed &lt;/strong&gt;Windows open, especially at highway speeds, increase drag and result in decreased fuel economy of up to 10%.&lt;/li&gt; &lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Service Vehicle Regularly &lt;/strong&gt;Proper maintenance avoids poor fuel economy related to dirty air filters, old spark plugs or low fluid levels.&lt;/li&gt;  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Use Cruise Control&lt;/strong&gt; Maintaining a constant speed over long distances often saves gas.&lt;/li&gt; &lt;br /&gt;&lt;li&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Avoid Long Idles &lt;/strong&gt;If you anticipate being stopped for more than 1 minute, shut off the car. I can send a text message to any home/business phone and it will get converted by those often funky text-to-voice readers.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;blockquote&gt;&lt;br /&gt;From July 12, 2005 to October 12, 2005, Sprint PCS subscribers will be able to send a text message to a landline phone at standard domestic text messaging rates! Text messages, which are converted to voice, can be sent to any landline phone in the United States.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;When the person answers his or her home phone, they will "hear" the text message you sent and can reply back to you with one of the available responses. You will also receive a text message on your Sprint PCS Phone when a response is sent back to you.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/blockquote&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In addition, the recipient can reply with one of a few standard text messages (e.g "Yes", "No", "Thank You", "Where are you?") or can send a voice message back. Yesterday we had our final ultrasound.  Within the first minute of the weird probe thing being rubbed over my wife's slippery belly, I saw it ... my son's manhood!  I called it even before the radiology technician did.  N and I smiled at each other and both of our minds started racing, as the technician went on to show us more of what our son is up to in the womb. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Each time I think about this pregnancy thing, it simply amazes me.   N often feels like there's an alien inside her ... how would you feel if you had a two pound foreign living thing inside you?  It cannot be described in words.  Just ten weeks ago, he was the size of my big toe.  Now he's the size of my hands (I got big ones) I know I'm going to be overwhelmed with emotion when, God-willing, our little one is in my arms.  Reality is slowly setting in. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Soo .. we need to step up on finding a name! Honestly, I like it a little better in terms of the &lt;acronym title="User Interface"&gt;UI&lt;/acronym&gt;. It uses more screen real estate, and has a couple better functions that Microsoft won't hesitate to brag about. For some reason I didn't know about the availability of &lt;a href="http://www.chicagoparkdistrict.com/index.cfm/fuseaction/events.results/object_id/b85d63cb-6aec-45f0-8cdb-9c38d0a57e19.cfm"&gt;Movies in the Park&lt;/a&gt; across Chicago.  I hope we take advantage of it more often this summer.  The problem is, I have all these teachers around me, who are out of work for the summer! It seems like they're just doing what the traffic lights and walk signals are already doing. I'm sure it feels good to have authority over cars and pedestrians, but do our taxes really need to pay them for it? i have to do logistically for july 17th.  i can't wait to go to hawaii ... i need to get away anyway, and getting away with N will be faaaantastic.  still wondering how my selfishness will play out in marriage.  praying against it as much as i can remember. a friend once told me that the depth of one's own selfishness is revealed in marriage ... where men are supposed to epitomize unselfishness and
